Did you know that 80 Texas children lost their lives to a fatal drowning last year? Or that 6-8x as many children survived a non-fatal drowning? Drowning is PREVENTABLE, yet drowning is still the #1 CAUSE OF UNINTENTIONAL INJURY-RELATED DEATH for children under 5 and a leading cause for ages 1-14.
I want to make a difference and you can help! On August 17, my partner, John Martin, and I will be participating in the Colin's Hope Got2Swim event, and together we will be swimming 10K (6.2 miles) to raise funds and awareness for drowning prevention and Colin's Hope. This year, John and I will be swimming in memory of Drennen O'Melia. Drennen was 12 when he drowned. One day he was anchoring a relay on his swim team in Colorado, and the next day he lost his life. This is his story.https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=rkhWO4iCtYA
