Hello awesome donation friends
It has been a few years but I am back in full swing supporting Colin's Hope. If you are not aware, CH is based in Austin and revolves around the memory of Colin Holst. 10 years ago Colin was swimming at a local pool surrounded by lifeguards, parents, and friends. One moment he was having fun playing in the pool, the next he was underwater and unconscious. Colin drowned that day and somehow his family found the strength after this unspeakable tragedy to create Colin's Hope.
The goal of CH is to raise awareness about drowning prevention for children. It is a little known fact that drowning is the #2 cause of death for children under the age of 14 and is second only to motor vehicle accidents. Funds donated to CH are used for educational outreach to local organizations, to fund swim lessons, PFD loaner racks at local boat ramps and swimming areas, PSAs, billboards and to network with other like organizations around the nation.
This years Got2Swim event will be held on August 17th in Lake Austin and will be a 10K swim. Mindy Weber will again be my relay partner. One of us in the water, one of us in a kayak. For 10,000 meters.
Mindy and I will be swimming this year in memory of Drennen O'Melia. Drennen was 12 when he drowned. One day he was anchoring a relay on his swim team in Colorado, the next day he drowned. This is his story.https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=6&v=rkhWO4iCtYA
