2020 Got2Swim Virtual One-Mile, 5K, & 10K
06/01/2020 12:00 AM - 08/31/2020 11:55 PM CST

The Got2Swim Virtual Swim is a solo fundraising event supporting Colin's Hope and our drowning prevention programs.

All registering participants are required to raise a minimum of $150 each to support Colin's Hope and it's drowning prevention initiatives as part of their registration commitment. Online customized peer-to-peer fundraising pages are available for soliciting and tracking donated funds and can be set up here

You are highly encouraged to have a Water Guardian accompany you on your swim(s) as a safety measure to support your swim needs (hydration, nutrition, directional guidance, etc.) and to assist in the case of an emergency. Your non-swimming Water Guardian can be the person of your choice.

In open water, a Water Guardian should paddle alongside in a kayak/SUP. If using a SUP, please ensure your Water Guardian 1) has experience paddling for long periods of time, 2) has experience paddling in rough water, and 3) can carry any necessary gear safely. All paddling Water Guardians are highly encouraged to wear a properly fitted and buckled U.S. Coast Guard Approved life jacket at all times in and near the water.

For pool swims, it is recommended that a Water Guardian be a lifeguard on duty or, at a minimum, another competent adult committed to keep watch for the duration of your swim(s).

Water Guardians for virtual swims are not required to register nor fundraise for the 2020 Got2Swim Virtual Swim.

It is strongly recommended that you purchase a SaferSwimmer flotation/training device. This adds to visibility and safety when training in open water where there is boat traffic. (SaferSwimmer flotation/training devices can be purchased through the Colin's Hope webstore as well as other online outlets.)

Donations made to a your pledge page are tax-deductible. Donors will receive an automated receipt at the time of donation. Registration fees are not tax-deductible and are non-refundable. Any forfeited registration fees will be considered a contribution to Colin's Hope, our mission, and/or the Got2Swim program.

In consideration of the services of Colin’s Hope and all officers, officials, agents, employees, directors, volunteers, participants, sponsoring agencies, sponsors, advertisers, owners/lessors of premises used to conduct the event(if applicable), and all other persons or entities acting in any capacity on their behalf (hereinafter collectively referred to as “Releasees”), I hereby agree, on behalf of myself, my children, my parents, my heirs, assigns, personal representative and estate as follows:

1. I acknowledge that swimming is a dangerous activity, and, specifically, that training for a 2020 Colin’s Hope Got2Swim Virtual swim (hereinafter collectively referred to as “G2SV”) and the event itself on the date of my choosing within the months of June, July, and/or August 2020, entails known, unknown, and unanticipated risks that could cause or result in physical or emotional injury, illness (i.e. communicable diseases such as MRSA, influenza, and COVID-19), paralysis, or death to myself or to other parties. Moreover, I acknowledge that these risks may cause property damage to my property or the property of others.

2. I hereby voluntarily release, forever discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Releasees from any and all claims, demands, or causes of action, which are in any way connected with or arise from my participation in this activity or my use of Releasees equipment or facilities, including any such claims which allege negligent acts or omissions of Releasees to the fullest extent permitted by law.

3. Should Releasees or anyone acting on their behalf, be required to incur attorney's fees and costs to enforce this agreement, I agree to indemnify and hold them harmless for all such fees and costs.

4. I certify that I have adequate insurance to cover any physical or emotional injury or property damage I may cause or suffer while participating. Alternatively, I agree to personally bear the costs of any and all such injuries or damages myself. I agree that if any portion of this agreement is found to be void or unenforceable, the remaining portions shall remain in full force and effect.

By completing registration, I acknowledge that if anyone is hurt during my participation in this activity, I may be found by a court of law to have waived my right to maintain a lawsuit against Releasees on the basis of any claim from which I have released them herein.

FOR PARTICIPANTS OF MINORITY AGE (UNDER AGE 18 AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION)

This is to certify that I, as parent/guardian with legal responsibility for this participant, have read and explained the provisions in this waiver/release to my child/ward including the risks of the activity and his/her responsibilities for adhering to the rules and regulations. Furthermore, my child/ward understands and accepts these risks and responsibilities. I for myself, my spouse, and child/ward do consent and agree to his/her release provided above for all the Releasees and myself, my spouse, and child/ward do release and agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Releasees from any and all liabilities incident to my minor child’s/ward’s involvement or participation in these activities as provided above, even if arising from their negligence, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
